In 1966, Doug Morris was listening to a record by The Supremes and was inspired to write this song. In those days you had to give the owners of the record company songwriting credit. That is why Barbara Baer, Eliot Greenberg, and Robert Schwartz are all listed as songwriters of this song, But Doug wrote this on his own.
